Two of our patas monkeys today got attacked by vervets while in their exhibit and they sustained some injuries with some bleeding on the thighs.

Kibonge has good appetite but since he has been in the exhibit, the keepers are not sure he is passing out stool as yet. He body conditiond generally looks fine

One of our pythons seems to be suffering from dystocia, she attempeted passing out some eggs sometime back but now she is unable. The vets will be looking at her.

The new crocodile is believed to be scared of peoples presence and has not responded to food since she came. She does not even come close while the other crocodile is feeding.

Other animals have good responses to feeding and look active in their respective exhibits.

Joana the Impala who was treated last wednesday, died in the course of the evening. A postmortem will be perfprmed to find out the cause of death.

Kibonge was operated and an exploration done, he was found to have obstruction and could not not pass out stoll. He was then helped to pass out some with hopes that he would be able to pass out himself, but even upto now there has been no stool seen in his holding, though he generally looks fine and active.

Acan seems to have greatly improved.

Hellena looks quite active but is still under observation.

The rest of the animals seem to be doing well including the three baby chimpanzees in quarantine.

One of our impalas called Joana got trapped in hole inside the exhibit and ended up with a fracture around the hock joint, i did radiographs and POP was applied, right now she is resting.

Kibonge the Lion and the other sick cases show improvement and responses are getting better.

Other animals at the centre are doing well,including the ostrich and the African rock python with their eggs.

Kibonge today had a knock down for sampling. His rectum was empty but very inflamed and bloody. We took blood for biochemistry and ather few requests and were sent to referal laboratory,We expect the results soon. The procedure was quite long ang took long to rise up.But generally the anaesthesia was smooth and as i write now he is abit drousy.

The mother to the baby bush back was also anaesthetised, the vet believed that she had some remains of the afterbirth inside and actually after treatment she started attempting to pass it out which was a good sign.
Her baby is doing very well at the Vet clinic.

One of our parrots also fell sic yesterday and is udergoing treatment,improvement is fairly good and can feed well.

Kibonge who has been sick has now fully recovered from his illness. He is able to fully feed and the stool is firm. I intend to take another stool sample for a review.

Acan the baby Chimp is equally very active and the wounds are looking much better now.

Hellena the Patas monkey is still on the run, we could have worked on her today but she went hiding in the exhibit.
The plan is to get her into the holding then we can physically restrain her tomorrow.

Last thursday we rescued an African Rock Python that was a problem in the neighboughood in a resident area in Kampala.
We plan to release it to one of the national parks.

The marabou stork chicks are doing very fine and growing so fast.

In Lake Mburo exhibit, the Bush Back gave birth to a healthy baby boy, this is a product of the Sitatunga and the Bush Back. However,she is not breastfeeding the baby, so we are proving cow milk which he takes very well.

Kibonge the Lion was reported to have improved slightly. He completed his treatment on 29th/02/08, but still appears weak. The good news is that he finished his meal last evening and the stool is firmer than it was.

Acan the baby Chimpanzee has also greatly improved and the wounds are drying up well, she even forgets that her arm is sick and she plays alot with the keepers.

Hellena, the Patas monkey has been on treatment and her condition is not yet good.

The rest of the animals are doing well.

Kibonge despite the attempemted treatment and having shown signs of recovery (as he takes the treatment in the food well), this morning he was not very active and did not take all his meal. He will be kept on observation.

The Marabou storks chicks, two of them were found dead yesterday, so only 16 of them are left. I have separated the young ones from the older ones.

Acan the baby Chimpanzee is still recieving treatment for her wounds and responses are positive.

One African grey parrot received trauma of the head and eventually died.

Otherwise the rest of the animals are doing very well.

Kibonge the Lion who has been at UWEC over time had started feeling sick two days ago and was not responding well to food at the same time he was passing out loose stool,though he appeared active.

A stool sample was taken and we analysed it, we found out that he had worm parasites, and the Vet started him on treatment last evening and now he is more active and responses are gradually getting to normal.

Acan, the baby chimpanzee who was injured by an older Chimp is also responding to treatment and the wounds are now drying up after she had incurred a serious bite from a friend during integration.

Other animals were all reported to be in good condition today.

At the centre today, all the animals were reported active and all responses were normal, no casualties.
